Sale of the Century
In the summer that marks the 100th birthday of the US Forest Service, deep federal budget cuts are forcing the agency to sell off assets to stay solvent. National forest recreation is slated for a 4 percent reduction, which could force closures or stop services for campgrounds and trails. Read all about it in High Country News (subscription required).
